I have a check engine light coming and going. My computer geek friend sprayed out the computer plug connections. We took out the computer to look at under scope. ![]() Seems like only when the engine compartment heats up quite a bit. Excessive idling, tuen off while hot, start back with-in 5 or 10 minutes so heat builds up. I am convinced there is a hair-line crack somewhere on the circuit board. Replacement $300+ so holding off doing. My code is P0002, #1 injector, if I recall correctly. But it runs fine when CEL is on. Runs a little rough just before CEL comes on. I replaced the #1 injector a year ago after this had been going on for a little bit. Checked the wiring, etc. Been too busy (read: lazy) to follow up on the excellent advice I have been given in this forum. The common connection to the cig lighter & wipers is the ignition switch. The same contacts from there power both fuses (17 & 18) in the fuse block behind the glove box. Check for power TO those fuses when the key is on & neither is working. If dead there either the switch is going bad or there is a problem with the connecting wire (white/pink) possibly at the back of the fuse block. Most of the time the switch is the problem when it is intermittently cutting out. Since you have a 2004, don’t you have 2 power outlets? If so, the other one is on a separate circuit & has B+ power even when the key is off. Maybe use that one? The common connection to the cig lighter & wipers is the ignition switch.
